MCGUIRE, MARGARET (PEG) ISABEL
(nee MUTRIE)
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear aunt, beloved adopted aunt and caring and unconditional friend Margaret (Peg) McGuire (Mutrie) in her 96th year on February 3, 2009 at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie. Peg will be sorely missed by her sister Lillian Secord (Lloyd) of Toronto, and her 11 nieces and nephews and their families: Ann McCullough (George), John Mutrie (Mary Ellen), Dean Mutrie (Rose Ann), Maureen Yeoman (Ray), Alec McConnell (Mary), Jane Lyman (Jim), Christy Douglas (Gary), Michael Morden (Gloria), Peter Morden (Christine), Jeff Morden (Susan) and Tim Secord (Jan). She will be especially missed by her best friends Mary Ritchie (Elmvale) and her children the Rev. Fairlie Ritchie, Peter Ritchie (Carla) and Jane Dalziel; and Evangeline Williams (Barrie); by the Stainton family and many other friends. Peg was predeceased by her husband Donald (1968) and her siblings Jack, Dawson, Mary McConnell, Helen Morden and Patricia.
Known to the family as Peg, Margaret was a caring, kind and principled woman. She championed those who deserved better and got quiet satisfaction out of seeing a problem and fixing it, as anonymously as possible. She loved children and music and was the founding patron of the Huronia Children's Chorus. Marg was a member and supporter of the Elmvale Presbyterian Church and the church family for more than 70 years, serving her church and faith in many different capacities. Mostly she loved just being with people, reveling in their enjoyment of life.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to her wonderful friends and neighbors for their love and kindness, and to caring staff at Roberta Place Retirement Lodge where she has lived since November 2007.
