MONTGOMERY, AGNES (nee WALDRON)

 April 2, 1920 - October 21, 2018

Mum left this life Sunday, October 21st. She was born in Birtley, nr. Newcastle, England, to John Waldron and Mary Jane (nee Bartley). Youngest of seven, predeceased by Joe (Janet), Jock, (Kitty), Catherine Dorrell (George), Molly Burton (Ted), Tommy, Jimmy and Tessie. She married her beloved Joseph Ross Montgomery (d. 1971) a Canadian Army veteran, August 6, 1948, in Toronto. Wonderful mother and friend to Susan Lynne Montgomery (Michel Doré) of Wasaga Beach. "Auntie Ag" to John Burton (Miranda), Phillip Burton (Janet), Gina Dombey (Bernard), Brinton and Michael Waldron of England. Canadian sister-in-law to Ora Fletcher (Jim), Elva Innes, Lois Henderson (Jimmy) and Ralph Montgomery (Anita). Aunt and great aunt to 25 of the Toronto Montgomery clan, many of whom enjoyed decades of happy times on Agar Crescent, Etobicoke. She worked as a telephonist in Uxbridge, England, at Hunts Bakery and Walkers, Cloverdale Mall, and retired as Chief Registrar, Clerk’s Dept., Borough, (now city) of Etobicoke after 13 years. At St. James Islington United Church she gave much of her time in the U.C.W. and other groups from 1951-2003. She transferred to Centennial United, Stayner, then to Elmvale Presbyterian for 10 years. She was a 5-pin bowler (Plantation and Georgian Bowl), lawn bowler (Etobicoke, Collingwood, Midland), Red Cross volunteer for 20 years, member of Richview Badminton League, and star member of Ag, Mich and Sue Beach Bocce League. She was a devotee of music, local theatre and gardening. She inspired us by remaining a going concern, true to her British upbringing, right up to her last month.

Thank you to the angels at Waterside Retirement Lodge, Wasaga Beach and Hillcrest Nursing Home, Midland.

Caring and loyal wife, mother and friend, warm-hearted provider of food, drink, understanding, humour and love. My Mum!

In lieu of flowers,  we'd appreciate donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Visitation at Elmvale Presbyterian Church at 9:30 a.m., Friday, October 26th.
