Went home to be with His Lord on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Leacock Care Centre in Orillia. Ronald Mertz of Hillsdale in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Lorna Mertz (nee Shewfelt). Loving brother of Gwen (Ed) Woods and the late Clarence (late Grace) Mertz, the late Ralph Mertz and the late Arden Mertz. Sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Grace and Betty. Brother-in-law of John (Marilyn) Shewfelt, Gord (Paula) Shewfelt, and Velma Shewfelt. Ron will be loved and missed by his many nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephews. Ron treasured his animals, including his most recent companion Simon.
Visitation will be held at the Lynn-Stone Funeral Home Elmvale from 7-9 pm on Thursday, December 27 and Friday, December 28 from 10-11 am. Funeral Service in the chapel on Friday, December 28 at 11 am.
Spring interment at Waverly Gospel Hall Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Gideons or the OSPCA would be appreciated by the family.
