KING, RUTH ELLEN (nee BERTRAM)

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, knowing that she was deeply loved. Ruth King (nee Bertram) of Elmvale, “chief cook and bottle washer” and cherished wife, of the late Nelson King (2015). Much loved mother of Charlie and his wife Tanya of Elmvale, Michelle and her husband Will Schepers of Midland and Debbie and her husband Paul Craddock of Elmvale. Extremely proud and much loved grandma of Jessica-Lynn (Adam), Jennalee (Kyle), Marc (Jennifer), Graham (Kristen), Emma (Colin), Rowan (Ryan), Owen (Aimee), Nevin (Eileen) and Tye (Jordan). She was incredibly happy to be a great grandmother to Ella, Harrison, Benjamin, Bo, Paisley, Rosey, Hunter, Wyatt, Linden, Holland, Van and August. It saddened her to think that she would miss meeting her future great grandkids. Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters, Don (Thelma) Bertram, Joy (Ed) Reyolds, Dave (Lynda) Bertram, Ann (late Ken) MacDougall and Jack (late Nancy) Bertram. Predeceased by Paul (survived by Lois) Bertram and Grace (Harold) Adams. Sister in law of Jeanne Roy (Forget) Green (late Philip; late Kenneth). Predeceased by Ethel (Bob) Therrien and Doreen King. Fondly remembered by her uncle Mike, aunt Rosalind, many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.

Ruth spent years as a Customer Service Rep at both TD and National Banks and made many friends while there. In her younger years Ruth played baseball, sang with a local chorale group, spent countless hours knitting, sewing and gardening, worked jointly with Nelson at their Wyevale Texaco and in the fields and gardens on the King family farm. Together they also enjoyed camping trips with their children and eventually found a couple of campgrounds where they   made many good friends. She found enjoyment cooking, baking and sharing the fruits of her labour with family and friends. Ruth had a fighting spirit. The stress of the ongoing pandemic certainly took its toll on her and as her health declined her spirits were lifted by the care that was shown to her by everyone who took the time to check in on her.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 2nd at 11 am at the Elmvale Cemetery. Covid protocols will be in order and the family respectfully requests that you wear a mask.
