Joan peacefully passed away with family at her side, at Matthews House Hospice, Alliston, on June 12, 2017, in her 84th year. Survived by her sons George (Debbie), Robert (Tammy) and step-sister Sheila Lancaster. Joan was the proud grandmother of Kevin, Nicole, Courtney, Keith, Justin, Ryan, Nathan and Noah and will be greatly missed by all of them.
Joan graduated from the School of Nursing in 1956 and worked as a nurse in various role until her retirement. In line with her passion to be helpful, Joan volunteered with several organizations; Out of the Cold, Friends of the Museum, church choir, Barrie O.P.P. choir to name a few. She was in her element and the most content when helping others.
Friends may call at the Lynn-Stone Funeral Home, Elmvale, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday, June 16th.
Memorial Service at St. John's United Church, Elmvale, on Saturday, June 17 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciated memorial donations to Matthews House Hospice, Alliston.
