STONE, LAWRENCE 'LARRY' JOSEPH

MARCH 9, 1943 - JANUARY 6, 2019

Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends ON . Survived by his wife of over 48 years, Marianne, his sons Keith (Dawn), Jason (Verona), Marcus (Tanya) and Michael (Sara) and his nine grandchildren. Larry was born in Ontario to Thomas and Zelia Stone. He had many fond memories of growing up on the farm in Phelpston, ON with his four brothers and two sisters, Kevin, Gerrard "Buck", Terry, Simone, Joan and Louis. Larry and Marianne settled in Nanaimo, BC in 1971 where they raised their family. Larry was an instructor at Malaspina College and Vancouver Island University for over 30 years as well as a representative for the BCGEU. He enjoyed sports and outdoor activities including hunting, hiking and 30 years of hockey that he played in the Nanaimo Recreation and Old Timers Hockey Leagues. In his retirement he enjoyed reading, walking, wine and beer making and daily crossword puzzles. Larry will always be remembered for his generous and kind nature, sense of humour and sharp wit.

A funeral service will be held at Trinity Catholic Church, 6234 Spartan Road, Nanaimo, BC on Saturday, January 26th at 11 am.
