D'EATHE, DORIS (nee BELL)

May 11, 1924 – February 20, 2021

Passed away peacefully at home, with family by her side, in her 97th year.

Mom was the eldest and remaining member of the Bell family in Elmvale.  She now joins her parents Wallace & Beulah Bell, her siblings, Britton, Bedford, Shirley and Marlene.  Mom left Elmvale with her cousin Fran at 17 for Toronto. They both took courses at Central Tech to get a job at the Small Arms Munitions Factory in Mississauga, and she was part of the “Rifling Gang”.  The building survives today and is a recognized heritage landmark.  It was here she met her future husband Russell. Mom always spoke of this time with fond memories.  After the war she remained in Toronto after holding office positions at the Robert Simpson Company and Honeydew to name a few.  Mom and Dad married on a hot day in June 28, 1947.  After marriage they moved to Woodbridge and lived there for a number of years raising family.

Dad retired first, Mom retired in 1984 after serving 22 years with Bell Canada.  Upon retirement our parents built a home outside of Wasaga and remained there. Mom lost the love of her life, Russell, our Dad, on July 14, 2012. They had just celebrated 65 years of marriage. Mom was an active member in the Bayshore Club. An avid Line Dancer, she continued Line Dancing into her early 90’s.  She enjoyed lively music, gardening, flowers and family visits.  She also spent a number of occasions rescuing Dad with the other tractor when he got stuck.

Mom is survived by her daughter Sharon (Cathy), sons Garry (Marion) & Michael, Grandchildren Kaitlyn, Gordon, Jessica and three Great Grandchildren, nieces, Rhonda, Denise, Pam and Barbara  of Collingwood. The family wants to thank Mom’s family Doctor, Dr Amardip Singh; Dr Frederick Yoon (RVH), for always being there when needed, nurses Krista and Pat.  A special thanks to Mom’s PSW Marci, you were a god send.

Mom we hope you are dancing, love you forever.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Georgian Triangle, Campbell House.

Spring interment Elmvale Cemetery.
