Proud Oma of Kim, Jill (Andy), Tom (Kamerin), Mike (Amy), Nicole (Mark), Julie, Michelle, Kristine, Jen (Barry), Geoff (Shannon), Lisa (Brent), Kevin (Jess), Amanda (Ryan), Joey (Taylor), Frankie (Jacquie), Kelly (Jake), Chris (Laura) and Dave (Natasha). Cherished great Oma of Brian, Lily, Evie, Rosie, Sully, Keyana, Cameron, Jackson, Layla, Zayma, Dylan, Liam, Reece, Bennett (deceased), Dawson, Charlie, Joslyn, Braelynn, Draper, Quinn, Carson, Nash, Tanner and Olivia.

Dien was one of eleven children born at “de Bekke” the home farm in Beltrum, Holland, and fondly remembered by three surviving sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Dien was the queen bee, the family boss. She was woman of strength, courage, compassion and joy. A person of faith who always saw the good in people and had a strong sense of community. She lived through war. Saw peace. Immigrated to Canada in 1950 and built a family with a bond that will last for generations to come. We will miss her wit, the love for the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, her knitted slippers and crocheted afghans, her hand written cards, her smile and her laugh. Her spirit will live on through us forever.

Private family funeral will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Church, Phelpston.

Spring internment St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

A celebration of Dien’s life will be announced at a later date.

Memorial donations to St. Patrick’s Church, 1600 Flos Road 4 West, Phelpston, Ontario L0L 2K0 or to Elmvale and District Food Bank, 62 Yonge Street N., Elmvale, Ontario L0L 1P0 would be appreciated by the family.

Dien’s family would sincerely like to thank Fr. Jim, Lynn Stone Funeral Home, long time family physician, Dr. Strangway and his staff, the compassionate care of nurse Megan and the numerous Bayshore nurses and PSW’s.
