CHASE, ELIZABETH MARY (nee KEILY)

Betty {Elizabeth } Chase.

March 16, 1933 – August 26, 2022.

Betty Chase passed away on August 26th 2022 at Campbell House Collingwood with family by her side.

Betty grew up in Mount Denis where she met and Married Cyril Chase. During their time together, they made several weekend trips to Wasaga Beach where they eventually bought a cottage court and had a Variety /Snack bar called The Ponderosa. In Wasaga Beach, they enjoyed running their business as well as raising their children Cheryl and Bart.

At some point, Cyril saw the potential for growth and year round living in Wasaga and so they purchased large parcels of land and developed 2 subdivsions. They also decided at that time to make Wasaga their permanent home and soon Cheryl and Bart moved to Wasaga to be involved in the family business.

Betty was loved by all who knew her. Soft spoken and very supportive to relatives, friends and neighbours. She always welcomed guests into her beach home where she prepared the most sumptuous meals and always sent friends away with freshly baked goodies.

She was the most amazing mother to Cheryl and Bart and a very patient and loving grandmother to Christina, Michele, Josh, Katie, Chase [deceased] and Aric. Betty also enjoyed time with her 9 great grandchildren and tried to hold on for # 10 to arrive soon.

Betty is predeceased by her parents Bob and Dorothy Keily, her husband of 61 years Cyril Chase, her brother Billy, her sister Heather and her grandson Chase.

She leaves behind her daughter Cheryl, her son Bart [Rosanna], her sisters Inez and Dorel and their families as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren and countless friends who often enjoyed a quiet cup of tea and sweet baked treat at Betty’s table.

In place of flowers, the family asks for a small donation to Campbell House Collingwood where Betty received the most compassionate care. We also thank the staff at Collingwood Hospital as well as all the home care staff for their support.

A celebration of Betty’s life will take place some time in the near future.

We thank all who have reached out to offer condolences.
