PERSI, MARIA

January 4, 1940 - April 14, 2023

Maria (Mariann, Ingeborg) Persi was born in Frankfurt Germany on January 4th, 1940 and passed away peacefully at Simcoe Hospice on April 14th.

Maria is survived by: her husband of 61 years, Sam (Serafino) Persi, her children Michael Persi and Michel Persi-Kasper, her Son-inlaw Karl Kasper and her grandchildren, Tyler, Luke, Ella, Enzo and Mila.

Maria moved to Elmvale in 1972 to help create one of Simcoe County's greatest family attractions for all to enjoy, the Elmvale Jungle Zoo. Her warm smile greeted every guest as she would give them helpful hints and reminders. Ensuring all the plush and souvenirs were neat, tidied and stocked. Her outstanding knowledge of raising young animals has been passed down through to her grandchildren and has saved many furry lives.

Maria loved to travel whether it was to see the ocean in the Bahamas or the bright lights and ringing bells of the slot machines in Las Vegas, and family vacations were always an adventure she enjoyed. Maria had poise and elegance to her that was admired by many. Her heart filled with kindness and love for all.

She be missed greatly.

A Celebration of Life with be held at Southshore Community Center (205 Lakshore Drive, Barrie) on April 30, 2023 from 1pm to 4pm.

Feel free to wear something blue as we celebrate Maria with her favourite colour.
