SMITH, ROBERT JAMES

Passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 27th, 2023 at G.B.G.H. Robert was born on May 31, 1950 to the late Allan and Jean Smith. Predeceased by his wife, Doreen (Ritchie) Smith. Father to Pamela (Joseph) Fralick, Heather (Jason) Juneau, Derek (Crystal) Smith and adopted daughter Jaime Wood. Cherished Grandfather of Owen, Cora, Keegan, Mason, Jakob, Evelyn, Collyns and Abby. Dear Brother to Harvey Smith, William Smith, Terry (Neil) Harkes and Lyle (Julie) Smith. Brother-in-law to the late Don and Anne Ritchie, Lois (Pete) McCloskey, Ken (late Nicole) Ritchie, Marilyn (late Phil) Kenny, Dan (Karen) Ritchie. Robert will be missed by all his nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Our Father will always be remembered for his love of hockey and fishing in addition to his involvement with the Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival, the Elmvale Food Bank and Elmvale Minor Hockey. He had a helpful, outgoing nature and was often having pleasant conversations and generating laughs with friends and passersby. "Bob" also chased countless kilometres as a long haul truck driver for several years to ensure we had everything that we needed. Our Father was always faithful to the Marine Corps., left the USMC as a Corporal and a Vietnam veteran after having been a Sergeant in the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. 

Our Father will be missed.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will happen on Monday, May 15th, 2023 between 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Elmvale Legion, 7 John Street, Elmvale.
