WOJCIK, WALTER MICHAEL

Passed away after a short illness at the Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland on Sunday, January 7, 2024.  Walter Wojcik of Waverley in his 81st year.  Beloved husband of Sheila (nee Coxon).  Dear father of Janet (Eric Plouffe).  Proud and loving grandfather of Gavin.  Brother of Amelia Uhrig, Loretta Hayden, George Wojcik, Murray Wojcik, and pre-deceased by Stan, Mary, Anne, Richard, and Jenny.  Walter will be dearly missed by his many nieces and nephews.  

Walter had a diverse career as a registered nurse working in the Emergency and Crisis Services as well as working as a Hospital administrator. Walter had a passion for humanitarian work which he began in the Dominican Republic with the Rotary Club in 1986. He continued this work for over 35 years. Walter was honoured to receive the Paul Harris Award for his volunteer work with Rotary International.  He was an active member of the Arabian Horse Association of Eastern Canada and continued to take excellent care of his retired show horses at home. 

A visitation will be held at the Lynn-Stone Funeral Home in Elmvale from 6-8 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2024.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, January 12 at 11 am. Cremation to follow. 

As an expression of sympathy donations in memory of Walter may be made to the Religious Hospitaliers of St. Joseph, Montreal Quebec or Ontario SPCA Barrie Animal Centre.
