Michael David Bertram of Elmvale; passed away peacefully at Hospice Simcoe after a courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024 in his 60th year. He is survived by his sons, Mike Bertram and Alex (A.J.) Bertram, his sister Heidi (Russell) McElwain & his father David (Lynda) Bertram. He is pre-deceased by his brother Glenn Bertram, his cherished mom Marian Currie and stepfather Alex Currie.
Throughout Mike’s life journey, he built strong relationships with a vast group of friends who became his family. The impact he made on the people he touched was keenly felt during his final weeks at Hospice, where many friendships and relationships were renewed & celebrated, and the bonds of friendship strengthened with the many friends who were his constants in life.
During his battle with cancer Mike’s dear friend Dory Cameron, who he adored; together with a group of close friends, made sure that Mike received the care that he needed and that he was surrounded with people who cared for him.
He will be missed by all who knew him, and his beloved musical community will be a little quieter today for the loss of one of their most passionate drummers.
A gathering to share memories of Mike’s life will be held at the Elmvale Legion on Saturday May 4th, 2024, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Mike’s family & friends will always be grateful for the care and kindness shown by Dr. Cohen & the staff and volunteers at Hospice Simcoe during his time there. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Simcoe or a charity of choice.
