NESBITT, CARRIE ETHEL

Carrie Ethel Nesbitt watched her last beautiful Manitoulin sunset and is now singing with the angels. She passed away suddenly at her cottage on Friday, July 19, 2024. She leaves behind her best friend and caring husband Clint Nesbitt. She had three loving children; Joanne (Cal) Potts, Jim (Heather) Nesbitt and the late Jeff (Sheena) Nesbitt. She had 8 adoring grandchildren and 3 beautiful great grandchildren. She treasured her time with Kera (Erik) Potts-Smith, Kaleigh (Devin) Potts Tompkins, Emily (Myles) Nesbitt Coolen, Jenna (Kurtis) Nesbitt, Kyle (Kiersten) Potts, Mark Nesbitt, Skye Nesbitt, and Scotia Nesbitt. She delighted in holding her little great-grand babies; Leigha, Ellie and Lily. Carrie is now resting at peace alongside her beloved son Jeff Nesbitt, sister Marjorie (Clarence) Wadge, brother Lorne (Ida) Taylor and her parents Elmer and Ethel Taylor.

Carrie loved life and the people who surrounded her everyday. Her nieces Pat (Don) Beach, Dianne (Frank) Oberson and Shirley (Tony) Huleatt brought so much joy to her life and were more like her sisters. She considered Craig and Heather Graham as her own children and Laura (Spencer and Anna), Nicole (Braeden) and Jackson as her grandchildren. Christophe (Vanessa) Vicario was a treasured exchange student who also became family.

Carrie was born on October 5, 1937 in New Liskeard, ON. She and Clint moved to many communities over their 62 years of marriage, including Sault Ste Marie, Simcoe, Gore Bay, Elmvale, finally settling in Wasaga Beach in their sunset years. Wherever she lived, her friends became her family and she treasured each person.

Carrie always immersed herself in community life wherever she lived. She loved birthdays and baking; campfires and parties; singing and storytelling; dancing and laughing; traveling and shopping; crafting and writing cards; reading and talking. Carrie loved working with children, volunteering as a dedicated leader within the Girl Guides of Canada organization, and also working as an Educational Assistant at Huronia Centennial Elementary School. She was a dedicated member and leader of the United Church Women, the Glen Rebekah Lodge, and was granted an Honourary Life Membership of the Centre Flos Women’s Institute. Carrie’s passion was always music, singing in many choirs throughout her life and included music in all of her activities.

The family will gather to honour Carrie and visit on Thursday, July 25th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Lynn Stone Funeral Home in Elmvale, ON. The Glen Rebekah Lodge will host a service at St. John's United Church at 10 am on Friday, July 26th.  We will celebrate Carrie’s life on Friday, July 26th at 11am at the St. John’s United Church in Elmvale. In Carrie’s memory, donations may be made to the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada, or a charity of your choice.
