ORR, PATRICIA (nee MCGILL)

It is with great sorrow that Cindy, Bonnie, Ann Marie and Joey announce the peaceful passing of their Mom, Patricia Orr on Saturday December 21st 2024 at RVH in Barrie at the age of 81.

Patricia started her teaching career at the age of 17.  She was dedicated to her career and taught over 40 years.  She continued to volunteer in her daughters’ classrooms.  She loved her students and was very proud to be a teacher at SMCDSB. She spent many years at Our Lady of Lourdes and St. John Vianney in Barrie. Her love of teaching inspired her daughters to become teachers and now her granddaughter and grandson.

Pat developed great friendships through her teaching career.  Those friendships continued after Retirement.  She enjoyed going to plays, enjoying lunch and long chats.

Patricia (Pat) always put her family first.  Pat had 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. With a loving, quiet strength she inspired and encouraged everyone along their journeys.  She was always available for early pick ups from school, sleep overs, appointments, dog walking and made effort to go to games, recitals, plays and graduations.

Pat moved to Anten Mills, 50 years ago.  She was a proud resident  and made it a very special Home.  All family and friends were always welcome.  She hosted all family celebrations-Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving, Easter and Birthdays.  She had the best Halloween decorations and Easter Egg Hunts.  She prepared delicious meals where we made special memories, including putting in a float for the Anten Mills’ Christmas parade.  She loved her dogs, Mo, Maya and recently Coco. She enjoyed walking Coco to the park and chatting to neighbours along the way. Anten Mills will not be the same without her.

Pat will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; Cindy & (Scott) Graham,  Nick & (Kelly), Nadia & (Rob) Spence, Chris & (Riley), Curtis & (Daniella), Bonnie Orr & (Grant), Taylor and Kiera, Ann Marie Orr, Keegan and Kylie, Joey Orr, Abigail, Mackenzie, Nate and Liam.

She will also be missed by her great grandchildren, Hunter, Eddie, Ella, Graham and Walker.

She is predeceased by her cherished sister Marjorie Loftus (Bernard).  Aunt Patsy will be forever missed by Margaret Ann, Bill, Brian, Stephen and Sharon and her brother Bill McGill (Sally) and their children.   Aunt Pat will be missed by Dan McLaren and Dave Gustavson.

Friends are invited to join the family at the Lynn-Stone Funeral Home in Elmvale on Fri. Dec. 27th from 2-4 and 7-9.  A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Elmvale on Saturday Dec. 28th at 11:30 am.

Charitable donations in honour of Patricia can be made to the Parkinsons Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.  To leave a message of condolence on Patricia’s memorial page please visit our website.  As Mom would always say it’s not good bye it is see you later.
